How it is scored
Your recording is transcribed and marked against the TCF criteria, task by task, out of 20 for the paper, then converted to NCLC. You keep the recording and the mark side by side.
What candidates get wrong
Answering task 1 in single sentences. It is an interview; every answer wants a reason or an example after it.
Using the preparation time of task 2 to write a script and then reading it aloud. Notes, not sentences.
Running out of things to say at 40 seconds. Have a structure ready: position, two reasons, a counter-argument, a close.
Stopping to correct every small error. Fluency is a criterion; a self-correction that breaks the flow costs more than the error.
