What this paper asks

Short recordings from ordinary French life — a station announcement, a voicemail, a shop exchange, a radio item, then longer discussions as the paper climbs. One question per recording, four options. The items are ordered from A1 to C2, so the paper gets harder as you go.

How it is scored

Every item is auto-graded and the paper is reported on 100–699, then converted to NCLC. Because the items climb, how far up the paper you get matters as much as how many you answer.

What candidates get wrong

  • Reading the options while the recording plays — there are none to read yet; the question comes after.
  • Trying to catch every word instead of the one fact the question turns on: a price, a time, a place, a reason.
  • Losing the next item while still thinking about the last one. The clock does not wait.
  • Practising with the transcript open. You will not have it, and it hides exactly the weakness you came to find.
