What the free CELPIP reading practice test contains

This is a complete CELPIP Reading section, not a sample question: four parts and 38 questions, in the same order and the same on-screen format as the official test. The real exam allows 55 to 60 minutes for this section, so time yourself if you want the result to mean something. Nothing is locked, and there is no account to create.

Part 1 — Reading Correspondence

11 questions

An everyday email plus the reply to it. You answer questions about the writer’s intent, the tone, and the details, then complete the response.

Part 2 — Reading to Apply a Diagram

8 questions

A diagram or floor plan with a short message. You match what the message asks for against what the diagram shows — the part most candidates lose points on for rushing.

Part 3 — Reading for Information

9 questions

Four short factual passages. You decide which passage each statement belongs to, which rewards scanning over word-by-word reading.

Part 4 — Reading for Viewpoints

10 questions

A news article followed by a reader’s comment. You separate what the writer thinks from what the commenter thinks, and finish the commenter’s argument.

How your score is calculated

The moment you submit, you get a raw score out of 38, the correct answer for every question, and an AI-estimated CLB level. CLB — Canadian Language Benchmark — is the scale Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada uses, which is why a CELPIP result can be read straight off it: a CELPIP level of 9 is CLB 9.
