Welcome back to the Catholic Sproust podcast where we know that every day is a feast day. Today is August 25th, so join us for St. Louis King of France and the crown worth more than a kingdom. The streets of Paris had never seen anything quite like it.
The most powerful king in Europe was walking barefoot through the city. No royal robes, no crown on his head. He was dressed simply, carrying something small and precious in his hands, surrounded by his court, and most of them were barefoot too.
In the king's hand was a crown of thorns. It was THE crown of thorns. The very one pressed into the head of Jesus Christ on the day he died. And the King of France was carrying it home.
That was the opening. The rest of the episode (5 min) is in the player: every word clickable, with translation, saved words and flashcards.
