Welcome back to the Catholic Sproust podcast where we know that every day is a feast day. It's October 21st, so join us for St. Laura Montoya into the jungle. The canoe traveled upriver into the Colombian jungle. The trees on both sides closed in like walls.
Laura Montoya was 40 years old and sat in the bow of the boat, watching the water darken under the shade of the canopy. She had been told this was foolish. Civil authorities had put up obstacles.
Church officials had questioned her plan. Her friends had worried. And yet the indigenous people of Chocau, the people she wanted to find, have been dismissed by most of Colombian society as uncivilized, unreachable, and not worth the effort.
That was the opening. The rest of the episode (6 min) is in the player: every word clickable, with translation, saved words and flashcards.
