The title of this mini-podcast is The World War II Water Down Theory. I think most of us would agree with this. Your great-grandparents probably had it harder than your grandparents. Your grandparents had it harder than your parents.
And your parents probably had it harder than you. That seems to be the natural progression of things. And somewhere after World War II something else began to happen. Parents who had lived through hardship, understandably, wanted something different for their children.
They wanted them to have an easier life. They wanted to spare them some of the things they had endured. What a noble sentiment! And in many ways, it worked.
That was the opening. The rest of the episode (4 min) is in the player: every word clickable, with translation, saved words and flashcards.
