On Tuesday, OpenAI posted how last week's reported intrusion on Hugging Face was an unprecedented cyber incident that occurred during a test of the GPT-5.6 Sol model, alongside a model still undergoing internal testing.

OpenAI's breakdown says the model, quote, successfully found ways to gain access to secret information that it could use to cheat the evaluation. The Hugging Face security team and the company's own AI agents then detected and halted the intrusion. Hugging Face's chief executive believes there was no malicious intent from OpenAI over the incident.

France's parliament passed a law banning under-15s from accessing social media, a first for an EU member nation. Beginning September 1st, all under-15s will be banned from creating any new social media accounts, and Phase 2 involves all existing social media accounts held by under-15s to be deleted on January 1, 2027.
