Good morning, this is Send 7 World News in 7 minutes. I'm Juliette Martin and today is Tuesday 22nd September 2026. in Africa today. In Ethiopia, seven armed groups have formed an anti-government alliance. The Ethiopian People's Forces Alliance for Survival announced it aims to overthrow Prime
Minister Abiy Ahmed's government. It includes the Tigray People's Liberation Front and the Amara Fano national movement. According to a government spokesperson, members of the Alliance have had financial backing from Eritrea. Eritrea's government has not yet commented, though it has previously denied similar claims.
In South Africa, three people have been arrested over the death of a woman last week. In the last two months, police have found the bodies of nine women, mostly in their 20s and 30s, in and around the Ekahuleni municipality. Gender-based violence is a long-standing issue in South Africa.
