Hacker Newsroom, your daily digest of the hot topics in the Hacker News community. Today we're covering Quad 9, DNS resolver, to exit France, e-mudra to exit global SSL TLS certificate business, and jailbreaking the switch too. Quad 9 is leaving France after a court ordered the nonprofit DNS provider to block domains
associated with unauthorized sports broadcasts. In its post, Quad 9 says it will stop serving French users on November 24, following a ruling in favor of broadcaster Bien that carries a thousand-year-old daily penalty. The organization says it cannot reliably identify users, jurisdictions without undermining its
privacy commitments, and applying the blocks worldwide would extend a French court's decision to everyone using its service. An appeal is pending, but approximately 20 other lawsuits have made the financial and operational risks unsustainable, according to Quad 9.
