Earlier this week, the hit horror-comedy series Widow's Bay made Emmys history with a record-breaking 14 wins, including best series. Katie Dippold, the show’s creator and showrunner, comes from a comedy background, having written the Ghostbusters remake and The Heat, as well as for Parks and Recreation. This is a CBC Podcast. I'm Ali Hassan, in for Tom Power. Welcome to Q. If you enjoy laughing while simultaneously being so terrified that you can't sleep,
you might like this. There's a new show on Apple TV called Widows Bay. It's about a mayor of a quaint little island off the coast of New England who is desperately trying to turn his town into a tourist spot.
I should mention there's no cell service and no Wi-Fi, which kind of sounds like a dream, TBH, except, and this is going to hurt the tourism dollars, the island might be cursed. You might run into a soul-stealing fog or a terrifying clown or, you know, the old sea hag who's been killing sailors for centuries.
That was the opening. The rest of the episode (19 min) is in the player: every word clickable, with translation, saved words and flashcards.
