There's a lot of adrenaline and a lot of wow. That's how NASA's Tom Statler describes Japan's first-of-its-kind mission to a distant moon, one of two orbiting Mars. This rover launched Tuesday and should get there in about a year.
Five space agencies spent a combined $578 million to send this rover to Mars' moon. And this is something. After all of the time and money it took to get there, the plan is for the rover to spend two hours collecting soil samples before starting a return journey to Earth.
Scientists are eager to study the lunar Martian soil and hope in the process for history-making discoveries. Nothing is good, but ultimate answers we know can only be found in God's holy word. And in the meantime, as Psalm 19 says, the heavens declare the glory of God.
