- Documentary
- Relationships & psychology
When Songe was 8 years old, he made fun of a girl with a facial tic. Just months later, he developed tics of his own—the first signs of the Tourette Syndrome he still lives with today. Hey Song. Hi, how are you doing? This is Song. All right.
There's going to be a lot of peripheral noises coming from me, but I guess that's part of the story too. Actions have consequences. The world is ruled by cause and effect.
So when Song tells the story of how he became the person you're hearing today, it's hard for him not to see it in karmic terms. His fate feels predetermined by something that happened one day in 1983 when he was eight years old. Song was living in Atlanta with his dad. And my father decided that he would send me to a Muslim school. And I just went for a year.
