Hello, and thank you for listening to the history of World War II podcast, episode 637, Battle of the Eastern Solomons. Last time, van de Gruff's Marines were cleaning up after the Battle of Alligator Creek. Painfully, they learned what it meant to clash with the men of the Empire of the Sun, namely
no mercy, no quarter given. But having conquered the threat to their east, the Battle of Guadalcanal was far from over, for the enemy could not abide having the Americans so close to their newly won territory. Besides, Tokyo wanted more.
