Here's your midday brief for Friday, October 23rd. I'm Alex Osella for The Wall Street Journal. The Starlink satellite internet system that Ukraine's military uses was still working with speed limits this morning.
That's despite President Trump saying that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk had restored the service. Ukrainian drone units and government officials said connections with StarShield, a military-grade service using Starlink's infrastructure, continued to fail in most of the country when drones flew faster than about 100 miles an hour.
It couldn't be determined why drone speeds were still limited, and SpaceX didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. Speaking to reporters this morning, President Trump said, quote, I've heard it was fixed, but if it's not, I'll speak to him, referring to Musk.
That was the opening. The rest of the episode (1 min) is in the player: every word clickable, with translation, saved words and flashcards.
