Hello everyone and welcome back to the History of Africa podcast. I'm your host, Andy. In our last episode, we examined the reign of one of Kilwasmo's slippery and fascinating characters, Emilia and Mohalman Al-Kalab, once Emia and Nobleman from an unstable,
pretenders lineage, who had managed to not only secure himself the title of Kilwas and Meer, but to rule with a greater degree of stately power than any other preceding ruler of Kilwas in centuries. However, this brief respite from decades of conflict in crisis will not be long for Kila, as the 15th century fades into the 16th,
the World II will enter into a new age, and Kila will come face to face with an odd new set of strangers, with the potential to bring great wealth, but potentially even greater danger. Season 6, Episode 16, the Portuguese arrived. In the year 1498, the world was about to change forever. A few Portuguese cariques, substantial wind-driven sailing ships, arrived in East Africa.
That was the opening. The rest of the episode (19 min) is in the player: every word clickable, with translation, saved words and flashcards.
