If you want to build a stronger classroom community, it all begins with the first two minutes of your day. A simple morning greeting can help kids feel seen, make connections with their classmates, and build friendships all year long. Today, I'm sharing my favorite morning meeting greetings, and some of them just might surprise you. So let's go. The morning greeting is really about making sure that every kid in your room feels welcomed and like they're part of the group.
In fact, the responsive classroom says one of the goals of morning meeting is to build positive community by fulfilling students need to be long, feel significant, and have fun. And that's exactly what you're doing with these simple greetings. When kids greet each other by name every morning, they're practicing social skills,
they're making connections with different kids, and they're building friendships. It only takes a couple minutes, but it's really a great way to start building that strong classroom community right from the beginning of the year. So there are four key things that you want to remember when you're doing your greetings.
