The attackers, the hackers really, they didn't hack their way in, they talked their way in. caller ID is not caller identity. If someone calls you and asks for anything sensitive, whether it be a password, a code or remote session, hang up and just call the number back. It may feel rude to do that, but it's not rude. It's your job.
