I'm proud to share this conversation between my Hub & Spoke colleague Erica Heilman, host of the exquisite and unflinching Rumble Strip, and her buddy Jay Allison, founder of Transom, producer of The Moth Radio Hour, and generally one of the most stalwart producers in the industry, about why public radio matters. Hey everyone, it's Tamar. So it's the Friday after Labor Day. And it's the end of the first week of school for a lot of you, although truth be told, my kids have been back in school for a couple of weeks already.

The Midwest is weird, man, but in this case I'll take it. But it's also a time when everyone is getting back to work. September is like a giant Monday, all sharpened pencils and fresh motivation. And it's in that spirit that I wanted to drop this conversation in my feed.

I really want you to listen to it. It's a conversation between Erica Heilman, host of the exquisite, unflinching Peabody award-winning podcast Rumble Strip, and Jay Allison, one of the most stalwart producers and broadcast journalists in the biz.
