is Monday 7th September 2026. Starting in Europe today. In Germany, there was an election for the Parliament of the State of Saxony-Anhalt yesterday. At the time of recording, the votes are still being counted. However, the far-right AFD party appears to have won the most seats.

0:55

Some polls predicted that the AFD would win a majority of seats. If this does happen, then it would be the first time that a far-right party had controlled a state parliament since World War II. In 2024, the AFD won the most seats in the Turingia state election.

Das war der Anfang. Der Rest der Folge (7 Min.) ist im Player: jedes Wort anklickbar, mit Übersetzung, gespeicherten Wörtern und Karteikarten.
