Cold Case Closed After 11 Years | Roanoke News
After 11 years, Lynchburg police have cracked a cold case from April 2015 — a shooting at the River Loft Apartments that left one man wounded but not life-threatening. The suspect had vanished back then, but detectives never gave up. Working with Virginia’s forensic team, they finally identified and arrested Kaleb Braxton, 28, on September 10th. He now faces aggravated malicious wounding and attempted robbery charges while locked up at Blue Ridge Regional Jail. This breakthrough proves that persistence pays off — bringing justice even after decades. If you have any info, contact Sergeant Miller or Crime Stoppers — tips can be anonymous online. ...

Lynchburg police just dropped some news about a case that's been cold for over a decade. Back on April 11, 2015, around 9 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at the Riverloft departments. They found a dude with gunshot wounds, thankfully not life-threatening, but the suspect got away clean at the time. Now, 11 years later, Detective Staidaunin,
working with the Virginia Department of Forensic Science, that persistence paid off. They recently zeroed in on a suspect, and on September 10th of this year, they brought in Caleb Braxton, who's 28 years old. Braxton is facing some serious charges, aggravated malicious wounding, and attempted robbery. He's currently locked up at the Blue
Ridge Regional Jail, so the wheels of justice are definitely turning, even if they took a while to get rolling on. This one. It's a testament to the detectives who kept digging, even when the trail went cold all those years ago. This kind of long-term commitment is what can bring closure to victims and hold people accountable no matter how much time has passed.
