Our Definitive Jason Voorhees Ranking
Send us Fan Mail This week we’re ranking every version of Jason Voorhees. We break down thirteen incarnations of Crystal Lake’s most infamous killer, scoring each on his look, presence, creativity, and brutality before combining our wildly different opinions into one definitive ranking. From Sackhead Jason and the original hockey mask to undead Jason, the feral 2009 reboot, and the chrome-plated absurdity of Uber Jason, we debate which versions best capture the icon, revisit the kills that defined them, and reckon with a final ranking that surprises even us. One of the most recognizable slashers in American Horror wasn't even the killer in his franchise's first film. Instead, he was a drowned boy, a catalyst for vengeance. His mother did all the killing and then he got four seconds at the end with zero dialogue. Jason Voorhees has been a man of few words and worn a lot of faces over the years and somehow the hockey mask wasn't even
the beginning. We've seen him as a frightened child, a sack-headed killer, a rotting corpse, a body-hopping worm demon, a cybernetic murder machine, and just about every stage in between. Today we're ranking every form of Jason Voorhees from worst to best. We'll consider his design, his performance, brutality, and creativity, and how well each version captures what makes Jason
such an enduring horror icon. Some are unmistakably Jason. Others feel like the franchise wandered into the woods without a map. Either way, they all count. So grab your machete, gather around the campfire, and let's rank every version of Jason Voorhees. Summerwing greetings and salutations and welcome to Hacker Slash.
