Today on The Stacks, we’re joined by award-winning author Paul Yoon to talk about his latest book, Etna. Told from the perspective of Etna, an ex-military dog, this book follows his long journey home after years spent fighting in a devastating war. We talk about why Paul wanted to write from a dog's point of view, how his love of reading led him to writing, and the movie he's shockingly never seen. Our book club pick for August is Fish Tales by Nettie Jones. We will be discussing the book with Sequoia Holmes on Wednesday, August 26th...

When I was growing up, my first love in terms of art was painting. And something that I loved about painting or like looking at something in a museum is that there's a border there. You know what I mean? There's like literally like there's a canvas hanging in front of you that's limited, right?
And yet within that kind of border, these artists were able to portray an insane amount of things. And I think I was inspired by that. I'm always thinking of my projects in terms of like kind of there's a frame, there's like a border.
And so I'm trying to fill it as much as possible rather than think I'm going to make the canvas bigger and bigger and bigger. Welcome to the stacks, a podcast about books and the people who read them. I'm your host, Tracey Thomas.
