The Bank

Ana has a new list. Today, the first thing is: Open a bank account.

"We need a bank account for everything," she says. "For Joe's pay. For the rent. For the phone."

The bank is on Commercial Drive. It is a big building with glass doors. Ana and Joe go inside. The children are at a summer day camp at the community centre.

A woman comes to them. She has a name card. Her name is Priya.

"Good morning. How can I help you?"

"Good morning," says Ana. "We are new in Canada. We want to open a bank account."

"Welcome to Canada!" says Priya. "Please sit down."

They sit at her desk. Priya opens a program on her computer.

"Can I see your passports?"

Ana and Joe give her their passports.

"And your permanent resident cards?"
