Complete the Phrasal Verb

Hi guys, I'm Ben and welcome to today's English podcast. On today's episode, we're practicing phrasal verbs. So hopefully today you're going to learn or revise five phrasal verbs. Here's how we're going to do this exercise. I'm going to give you five sentences and every sentence has a missing word. When there's a missing word, I will say blank. You need to complete

the sentence by adding a preposition. So a word like with, in, on, one of those little words. That's what we need to complete the phrasal verb and therefore to complete the sentence. The most important thing is that you understand the context. So if you maybe didn't know the phrasal verb, hopefully the context will make it clear even if you don't know what the missing

preposition is. Okay, let's take a look at our five sentences. Here is sentence one. I don't know what this word means. Can you look it blank in the dictionary? I don't know what this word means. Can you look it blank in the dictionary? So what's the missing word, the missing preposition in that sentence. Number two, we set blank early because we wanted to avoid the traffic.

So we look up words, we look up things on the internet that we don't know, on Google, so that is the meaning of to look something up, to search for it in a place like a dictionary.
